Nasha Genetics' Gruntz Description

Nasha Genetics Gruntz

Gruntz descends from two modern legends. Crafted by Nasha Genetics, this strain possesses saccharine terpenes and provides an inspiring, lucid head high. Discover everything you need to know about Gruntz, including her ancestry, effects, and growth traits.

History of the Gruntz Cannabis Strain

Gruntz belongs to the burgeoning strain library of Nasha Genetics, a seed bank with a unique and adventurous origin story. Twenty years ago, a group of growers hailing from California waved farewell to one of the best breeding hubs of the time and boarded a flight to the land of legendary indica landraces—India.

Here, they headed to the high altitudes of the Himalayas in search of landraces and strains developed at the hands of local mountain farmers. After procuring the best weed they could find, they fused their passion for Indian cannabis with their expertise refined in California to produce a catalog of unique, top-quality genetics. Combining highly exotic varieties with contemporary Western genetics, the team is able to produce exceptionally flavorful and powerful cultivars, such as Gruntz.

Following extensive travel and exposure to some of the most beautiful places on the planet, Nasha Genetics also prides itself on cultivating in the greenest ways possible. In order to offset their environmental impact, they only run LEDs with low energy requirements, build their soil from scratch, and feed their breeding stock with a strict organic-only diet.

Genetic Lineage of Gruntz

When creating Gruntz, the team at Nasha Genetics decided to strive for flavor above all else. To achieve a specimen rich in fruity terpenes and other aromatic compounds, they selected two esteemed parent cultivars: Gushers and Runtz.

Gushers cannabis stems from parent strains Triangle Kush and Gelato. The former placed first at the IC 420 Growers Cup in 2013, and the latter is a delicious high-THC variety that has taken the modern cannabis community by storm. Gushers produces an impressive THC content of 25% alongside a sweet and fruity flavor profile. When smoked, this strain quickly exerts a relaxing and uplifting high. Plants maintain a medium height during the cultivation cycle, boast a brief flowering phase of 8–10 weeks, and produce up to 500g/m² indoors and 700g/plant outdoors.

Breeders at Nasha Genetics introduced Runtz as the second parent strain, in hopes of infusing the offspring with a wider palette of terpenes. Since its release, Runtz has become one of the most popular strains of the modern era, propelled by intense effects, sweet tastes, a victory at the Emerald Cup in 2017, and the title of Leafly Strain of the Year in 2020. Among her attractive traits, Runtz’s immense THC content of 27% has helped to draw in growers from all over the world. Like Gushers, Runtz grows to a compact size. Indoor plants produce up to 500g/m² after a blooming period of 8–9 weeks, and outdoor plants return up to 450g/plant in mid-October.

Physical Characteristics of Gruntz

Gruntz, much like her predecessors, grows to a manageable height and produces an easy-to-tame canopy. Left to grow to her devices, untied and untopped, she’ll send a bulky cola skyward up to around 150cm if root space allows. However, simple training techniques can keep this plant at around 100cm while producing an open, aerated canopy with even exposure to light.

Gruntz produces thick colas that are as wide as they are tall. They feature a generous exterior of trichomes and large sugar leaves that climb almost to the top of each inflorescence. Much like her foliage, her flowers maintain a dark green shade during early bloom. However, ascending levels of anthocyanin pigments later in the flowering stage cause buds to turn a deep purple in most instances.

Properties and Effects of Gruntz

Gruntz weighs in as a relatively mild strain by modern standards. In a market dominated by hitherto unseen THC levels, her content of 20% may dissuade those with a penchant for extreme potency. However, not every smoker wants to linger on the edge of oblivion during each session. Also, it’s not just THC that’s responsible for a strain’s effects. In the case of Gruntz, high levels of caryophyllene, limonene, and linalool work alongside the psychoactive cannabinoid to drive a focused, energetic, and tingly high suitable for daytime use.

Given it hails from Runtz and Gushers genetics, the Gruntz flavor experience is chiefly characterized as super sweet with hints of tropical fruit. Strong flavors of berries, candy, cream, and fruit accompany each inhalation.

Uses of Gruntz

Gruntz is primarily geared toward daytime and early evening use. Its phytochemical combination synergizes to deliver a blissful and inspiring high that is suitable for enjoying as a wake-and-bake, in social sessions, and before engaging in some sort of creative or lightly active venture, such as a walk.

No scientific studies have put the therapeutic potential of Gruntz to the test. However, anecdotal accounts suggest that some medical marijuana consumers use this strain in attempts to manage the following issues:

• Nervousness

• Lethargy

• Physical tension and discomfort

• Low mood

Gruntz isn’t known to produce substantial side effects, although users should enjoy the strain in small amounts until they’re familiar with its effects. That said, red eyes and cotton mouth (dry mouth) can still occur.

Cultivation and Production of Gruntz

Gruntz handles a wide variety of growing spaces well, including compact grow tents, greenhouses, and outside in the garden. While the strain demonstrates reasonable pest and disease resistance, training plants early on will help to open up the canopy, increasing airflow and thereby staving off fungal pathogens and making it easier to identify troublesome pests.

A flowering time of 8–9 weeks situates Gruntz among the speedier photoperiod strains available. Indoors, where growers have complete control over light exposure, cultivators can switch her to flowering whenever they want for a quicker, albeit smaller, harvest. Outdoors, she manages to cross the finish line before the first frost arrives, even in areas with short growing seasons.

In any case, Gruntz is more than capable of returning above-average yields of dense, substantial buds both indoors and out.

Gruntz: An Explosion of Fruit Flavors and Creative Highs

Nasha Genetics created Gruntz by pairing two flavorful and popular modern cultivars: Gushers and Runtz. This combination gave rise to an uplifting progeny packed with sweet and fruity terpenes. A moderate THC content and motivating effects make her ideal for daytime use when looking to maintain a (somewhat) clear head. Also, the plant's sensible size makes it a good option when looking to keep your grow-op on the down-low.
