Pink Runtz S1 is an indica/sativa variety from Universally Seeded and can be cultivated indoors (where the plants will need a flowering time of ±63 days) and outdoors. Universally Seededs Pink Runtz S1 is a THC dominant variety and is/was only available as feminized seeds.

Pink Runtz S1 is very closely related to Runtz, arguably the world's biggest candy cannabis strain. Bred by an ex-US marine, Pink Runtz has become increasingly popular among both recreational and medical users who enjoy its dank fruit aromas and well-balanced, yet strong effects.

Strain History

Pink Runtz S1 was bred by Universally Seeded. For a long time, it was a clone-only strain. Today, however, it is available in seed form from Universally Seedes and other seedbanks as well.

Universally Seeded is a seed bank and cannabis genetics brand headed by a grower, cannabis lover, and ex-Marine known only as Tommy. Starting his career in cannabis in 2009 after leaving the Marine Corps, Tommy started working as a grower in Santa Cruz, where he quickly developed a passion not only for growing cannabis but specifically for breeding new strains with exotic terpene profiles.

In 2010, Tommy began breeding his own cannabis strains with a primary focus on developing new terpene profiles while simultaneously preserving stability and yields. He also grows outdoors and claims to put emphasis on sustainability and organic nutrition, which help his strains take on even more peculiar aromas and flavours.

Genetic Lineage

Pink Runtz S1 is arguably one of Universally Seeded's most famous creations. According to the brand's website, it is a unique backcross of different Pink Runtz phenotypes which resulted in this peculiar, yet extremely popular, variety.

Tommy's Pink Runtz is, like the original Runtz strain, a cross of Gelato and Zkittlez, which is known for being a super fruity hybrid with creamy smoke and a long-lasting, uplifting euphoria. Pink Runtz is a unique phenotype of this cross that preserves that same great fruity flavour and uplifting effects, though with unique physical traits, including subtle pinkish-purple hues. Its effects are still very uplifting (reminiscent of the original Runtz), though with a subtle, warm physical side that produces a lovely sense of relaxation and calm.

Physical Characteristics

Universally Seeded is one of the few seedbanks to have created extensive photo libraries of its strains, providing a lot of insight into each plant and its characteristics.

Based on the photo documentation of Pink Runtz S1, we can see that this is a medium-statured plant with some clear indica-like traits. Pink Runtz S1 develops dark green, broad leaves that can look almost black by the end of flowering. Its nodes are moderately spaced, and it can develop plenty of branches, especially when trained effectively. Pink Runtz S1 seems to stretch considerably upon entering bloom and develops dense, indica-like nuggets with thick calyxes, orange-yellow pistils, and a crystalline coating of resin. Well-grown plants can develop long and dense colas, supported with smaller flowers lower down.

Properties/Effects

Pink Runtz S1 is a very potent strain boasting up to, and sometimes over, 26% THC. It produces little to no CBD and other secondary cannabinoids, resulting in a strong and very intoxicating high that's enhanced by the terpenes limonene, caryophyllene, and myrcene (which obviously contribute to the strain's sweet candy aroma). The effects of Pink Runtz S1 typically settle in almost immediately—you may notice a strong cerebral rush coupled with a warming, relaxing physical buzz that, together, make for a relaxed, uplifted, and social high. Many users point out that Pink Runtz S1's effects perfectly walk the line between relaxation and euphoria, making for a very balanced smoke.

Universally Seeded provides no specific grow information for this strain. However, some of its subsidiaries and vendors claim that Pink Runtz S1 is a moderate-difficult strain to cultivate that produces up to 400g/m² in optimal conditions. Apparently, she takes roughly 8–10 weeks to reach maturity, at which point her many branches will be loaded with fat, sticky flowers, and almost pitch-black flowers.
