Animal Face is a mostly sativa variety from Seed Junky and can be cultivated indoors (where the plants will need a flowering time of ±67 days) and outdoors. Seed Junkys Animal Face is a THC dominant variety and is/was never available as feminized seeds.

Animal Face is a popular cannabis hybrid. Combining genetics from other popular hybrid strains, Animal Face is sativa-dominant and packs a ton of terpenes and cannabinoids. Its pungent aromas and flavours, as well as its intense euphoria have made the strain a hit among a wide range of users. History of Animal Face

Animal Face is a flagship strain from Seed Junky Genetics. Led by long-time grower and breeder JBeezy, Seed Junky is responsible for some of the world's hottest genetics. From big names like Animal Mints and Wedding Cake to more boutique cuts like Jealousy and The Soap, Seed Junky Genetics is behind the breeding of some of the biggest names in the cannabis strain game.

Animal Face is one of Seed Junky's more well-known creations. And while the strain has been around for at least a few years, its first-place win at the 2022 Emerald Cup Indoor category only earned Animal Face even more fame.

Genetic Lineage of Animal Face

Animal Face was created from a cross of Animal Mints, another beloved Seed Junky Strain, and Face Off OG. Below we'll take a closer look at either of these strains and how their genetics/traits may influence those of Animal Face.

Animal Mints was allegedly one of the first strains to be born out of the collaboration between Cookies and Seed Junky Genetics. It was supposedly created by Seed Junky Genetics from a cross of GSC (the original strain that kicked off the Cookies empire) and SinMint Cookies (a unique cookie variety bred by Sin City Seeds). However, there are some sources that claim that Animal Mints may have been created from a cross of Thin Mint Cookies, Fire OG, and Blue Power. Unfortunately, the exact origins of Animal Mints aren't known—nonetheless, the strain is renowned for its heavy, relaxing, and sleepy stone as well as its minty, fruity cookie aroma.

The second strain used to create Animal Face is Face Off OG. Like with many cannabis strains, the origins of this strain are murky at best. However, rumors suggest that Face Off OG was discovered by Archive Seed Bank from a bag of seeds from a unique OG Kush phenotype. The strain gets its name from its incredibly intense high that combines a dizzying mental euphoria with a melting body stone.

According to Seed Junky, its breeders decided to cross their unique Face Off OG clone with pollen from a male Animal Mints plant. The goal: to combine Face Off OG's piney-fuel aroma and incredible potency with Animal Mints' delicious cookies aroma.

Physical Characteristics of Animal Face

Animal Face is rumored to be a mostly sativa hybrid. Unfortunately, the strain was never available in seed or clone form to home growers. Hence, there is little-to-no information available regarding the plant's growing traits and physical appearance. Below, however, we've compiled information sourced from pictures of Animal Face plants being grown by commercial cannabis growers like Carmel and RHYTHM, for example.

Animal Face plants look like sativa-dominant plants given their long, large, and thin-fingered leaves. They also grow considerably tall, with reaching branches that develop long, dense, rocket-shaped colas. Animal Face plants seem to grow a lot of leaves and stay nice and green throughout their bloom cycle, eventually producing golden-green, airy flowers speckled with lots of orange-yellow pistils and a frosty coating of trichomes.

Properties/Effects of Animal Face

As is to be expected of any Seed Junky strain, Animal Face is highly potent and super aromatic. While the exact cannabinoids and terpenes of Animal Face may vary depending on how she's grown, the strain regularly clocks in with 20–30% THC and a rich mix of exotic terpenes. Its dominant terpenes seem to be limonene, myrcene, and linalool, and possibly caryophyllene, which combine to give the strain a pungent aroma of pine and diesel mixed with notes of zesty lemon sponge cake.

In terms of effects, Animal Face produces a very potent high that hits within minutes of your first inhale. Many users report feeling a strong hit of uplifting cerebral euphoria that's quickly followed by numbing physical effects. Most find that Animal Face produces a psychedelic, positive head high that leaves them feeling giggly, happy, and pleasantly distracted. Some also find the strain's physical aspect to be nice and relaxing, though not sedative. Depending on your tolerance, you may find Animal Face's effects good for helping you focus or stay productive.

Uses of Animal Face

Cultivation/Production of Animal Face

The original Animal Face bred by Seed Junky isn't available in seed or clone form to home growers. Some sites, however, do commercialize Animal Face seeds, though we cannot attest to how they compare to the original strain bred by Seed Junky.

The Animal Face seeds sold online typically produce sativa-dominant plants that grow vigorously and to modest heights (up to 200cm, depending on how much space they are given). Depending on how you grow, you may want to use topping, LST and other training techniques to help control the height of this strain.

Some growers might even opt to veg Animal Face for shorter periods of time indoors to grow smaller plants that are easier to manage. Being sativa-dominant, Animal Face plants might also benefit from slightly loamy soil and a lower dose of nutrients than more indica-leaning plants. Once in bloom, Animal Face plants can take up to 11 full weeks to reach maturity and be harvest-ready.

The yields of this strain may vary greatly depending on how and where it is grown. Some providers of Animal Face seeds, such as Premium Cultivars for example, claim the strain can produce up to 280g/m2 indoors, and up to 500g per plant outdoors.
