Capulators Sticky Buns Description

Few strains boast aromas and flavors that do their elaborate names justice. Sticky Buns, however, is an exception. This hybrid strain created by some of the US' biggest geneticists smells and tastes just like freshly baked, glazed cinnamon buns. Plus, it boasts a heavy-handed stone that almost mimics the food coma you'd be left in after scoffing down too many delectable pastries. Keep reading to learn more about the Sticky Buns strain, including its origins, genetics, effects, and more.

History of the Sticky Buns Cannabis Strain

Sticky Buns is a hybrid weed strain resulting from a collaboration between two of the US' most prominent cannabis brands: Cookies and Seed Junky Genetics.

Cookies was founded in 2008 by rapper/entrepreneur Berner and grower/breeder Jai. Starting out humbly as The Cookies Fam from a San Francisco garage, Berner and Jai found success after creating GSC, formerly known as Girl Scout Cookies. A cross of OG Kush and Durban Poison, GSC is one of the most influential strains ever created. During the 2010s, GSC and the Cookies line it gave birth to were practically the only thing on smokers' lips, and even today Cookies strains continue to get a lot of attention. Riding the wave that came with the creation of GSC, Berner and Jai created a weed empire that now comprises over 70 stores across six countries.

In 2019, Cookies merged its efforts with Seed Junky Genetics, another high-profile US genetics brand. While the brand was officially launched in 2014, Seed Junky founder JBeezy has been growing and breeding cannabis since the early 2000s. Today, he is responsible for creating countless famous strains, including The Soap, Animal Mints, Wedding Cake, Jealousy, LA Kush Cake, and many more. Through their collaboration (which eventually ended in Seed Junky suing Cookies for fraud), these two giants of modern weed created many memorable strains that still get a lot of love from both recreational and medical cannabis users.

Genetic Lineage of Sticky Buns

Sticky Buns is a hybrid Cookies cannabis strain bred from Kush Mints and Gelatti. Below we'll take a closer look at both of these parent strains and the traits they may have passed down to Sticky Buns.

Sticky Buns' first parent, Kush Mints, is a fairly low-key strain from Seed Junky. Recreational smokers as well as medical patients who have tried this cross of Bubba Kush and Animal Mints swear by its potent yet balanced effects, high THC levels (up to 28% in some cases), and delicious aroma. Its colorful purple and orange buds glisten with trichomes and boast a mouth-watering mint aroma with a touch of sweetness and fuel. Light her up, and Kush Mints will produce an uplifting, social cerebral stimulus followed by strong physical relaxation.

Gelatti, Sticky Buns' second parent, combines genetics from the almighty Gelato and Biscotti. The result is a potent hybrid producing around 20% THC and a rich mix of terpenes, including caryophyllene, limonene, and linalool. Together, these compounds give Gelatti delicious aromas and flavors that combine creamy, honey-like sweetness with hints of fresh mint and tangy fuel undertones. After a few tokes, it's a good idea to set Gelatti aside and enjoy the slow, creeping onset of its effects, which start in the head before washing over the rest of the body.

Note: There are other theories about the genetic origins of Sticky Buns. Some sources, for example, claim that the strain stems from GSC and GG#4, while others suggest it comes from a cross of Blue Dream and Durban Poison. Some other sources also point to Triangle Kush x Animal Mints as the parent strains. Cookies, however, has confirmed Sticky Buns' lineage as being Kush Mints X Gelatti.

Physical Characteristics of Sticky Buns

Unfortunately, no information is available about the physical appearance of Sticky Buns plants, as Cookies hasn't made this strain available to home growers. What we do know, however, is that this strain produces bright green flowers with dark green accents, dense stacks of calyxes, long, golden pistils, and a thick coating of sticky resin.

Properties and Effects of Sticky Buns

Sticky Buns is a potent hybrid capable of producing 20–25% THC or more, depending on how she's grown. Moreover, Sticky Buns' dense and resinous flowers pack a rich mix of terpenes, including myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene. Together, these compounds produce a dense, sweet, and creamy aroma accented with notes of cinnamon and cloves and finished with tangy hints of citrus and gas. Take a whiff of your grinder after breaking apart this flower, close your eyes, and you'll feel as if you're standing behind the counter of a Cinnabon right as the oven's timer chimes. Light her up and you'll get just as much joy out of Sticky Buns' flavor, which is sweet on the inhale with notable cinnamon notes, and light and citric on the exhale. It's not often that a strain's flavor lives up this well to its name.

In terms of its effects, Sticky Buns delivers plenty of potency, as is to be expected of a strain from such highly regarded breeders. At first, Sticky Buns' effects hit right between the eyes and produce an uplifting, social, and creative rush of euphoria that's ideal for social settings, gaming, or binge-watching your favorite sitcom. Soon, however, Sticky Buns' effects start to drip down over the body like a thick glaze over a cinnamon roll. As her effects start to take hold of your muscles, you better hope you're in a comfortable spot, as you won't be moving any time soon.

Settle down in front of a funny movie or pop on some headphones and listen to a good record or audiobook as you indulge in this strain's deeply relaxing body buzz. Then, once you can muster up the energy to move from wherever you've been glued for the past couple of hours, head to bed for some deep, restorative sleep.

Note that, given its strong THC levels and physical effects, Sticky Buns is best enjoyed by experienced smokers with a tolerance. If you're new to cannabis or strains of this strength, we recommend taking it slow, as Sticky Buns' deeply relaxing effects may prove too sedating.
