Zkittlez and Gelato are the predecessors of the beloved original Runtz strain, providing the genetic backdrop for the fruity flavors and highly potent effects that Runtz is known for. Similar to Pink Runtz, Black Runtz can come from the same Zkittlez and Gelato mix—breeders just need to select the right phenotype with the unique aromas and effects that this strain is known for.

On the other hand, some breeders create Black Runtz by crossing Black Diamond Sherbet with the original Runtz. Similarly, this genetic cross can create a strain with bold sour fruit aromas and that knockout indica stone that has made Black Runtz so popular.
