Apple Tartz is a balanced hybrid strain from Colorado Springs, US. It combines genetics from popular modern American hybrids and boasts fruity aromas reminiscent of the hearty dessert it is named after. History of the Apple Tartz Strain



Apple Tartz is a hybrid cannabis variety developed by Clearwater Genetics—a collective of growers and breeders based in Colorado Springs, US. Unfortunately, Clearwater Genetics is a very low-key brand and has shared very little information about its origins and history. Similarly, Clearwater Genetics provides little-to-no information about the lineage of its strains, including Apple Tartz. However, even with the strain's mysterious origins, that didn't stop Leafly from naming it their 'Strain Of Summer' in 2022.



Genetic Lineage of Apple Tartz



Clearwater Genetics created Apple Tartz by crossing two highly-revered modern hybrids: Apple Fritter and Runtz. Below, we'll look at both of these strains in more detail to find out how they've influenced the traits of Apple Tartz.



Apple Fritter is the first strain used to create the Apple Tartz hybrid. It was created by Lumpy's Flowers, a craft cannabis brand from North California. Josh Veal founded Lumpy's Flowers, which comprises a team of expert growers and breeders focused on producing top-shelf flowers for recreational and medical users. Apple Fritter is arguably the brand's most successful strain; after its creation in 2013 by Lumpy's co-founder Jason Dias, Apple Fritter was winning over smokers almost immediately with its bold aromas and potent effects.



A cross of Sour Apple and Animal Cookies, Apple Fritter is a direct descendant of the beloved Cookies and Diesel lines that have influenced many modern hybrids. While the strain was developed by a mysterious breeder known only as Nick, much of Runtz's success comes from the unique marketing approach of the Runtz Crew founded by rapper Yung LB and his manager Ray Bama. By teaming up with Berner and Cookies, Runtz Crew has made Runtz an international sensation treasured by smokers and growers worldwide. Combining Zkittlez and Gelato genetics, Runtz is known for its super sweet and fruity aroma, as well as its uplifting, happy, yet relaxing effects. Apple Tartz is rich in cannabinoids and terpenes. According to some sources, this strain produces roughly 25–26% THC (though some batches test higher) and around 1% CBG and other secondary cannabinoids.



According to some user reports, Apple Tartz is especially rich in myrcene, pinene, and limonene, which combine to produce a dense, pungent aroma with berry notes, grassy overtones, and a unique underlying creaminess.
