Strain History of Zowahh

Zowahh is a hybrid cannabis strain bred by Karma Genetics, a long-time cannabis grower and breeder from the Netherlands. Born in the 1970s, Karma has been a part of the Dutch cannabis scene since the early 1990s, when he started working in a coffeeshop. In 2000, Karma started breeding, and in 2008 he won the IC420 Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, after which he officially launched the Karma Genetics brand. Ever since, Karma has been highly renowned as a producer of top-tier Dutch cannabis genetics.

Over the years, Karma has been especially focused on growing and breeding OG strains. In fact, his experimentation with OGs is what eventually led to the creation of Biker Kush and Karma's OG, arguably two of Karma Genetics’ most popular hybrids. Karma Genetics has also collaborated with other breeders, including Mosca Negra, Canna Venture, and Horti-Lab, and is the winner of multiple cannabis cups and awards. Karma launched Zowahh in 2020 in regular seed form but no longer lists the strain on the Karma Genetics website.

Genetic Lineage of Zowahh

Zowahh is bred from Zkittlez and Karma Sour Diesel. According to some sources, it is supposedly 60% indica dominant, though Karma Genetics hasn't revealed the exact genetic split for this strain. Below we'll take a closer look at its parents, their traits, and how they may have impacted the traits of Zowahh.

Zkittlez, Zowahh's first parent, needs little introduction. Since its creation in the 2010s, Zkittlez continues to be a favorite strain among both recreational and medical cannabis users. Combining genetics from Grape Ape and Grapefruit, Zkittlez is known for its fruity, candy-like aromas and heavy, relaxing stone. It also produces bulky, round flowers with an extremely frosty coating of trichomes—traits that have been carried on by Karma's Zowahh.

Zowahh's second parent is a unique Diesel variety known as Karma Sour Diesel, or Sowahh. A unique inbred line developed by Karma using original Diesel genetics, Sowahh is known for producing a peculiar and pungent sour aroma that's somewhat reminiscent of original Diesel, though with notes of hops and lime. Its effect is very strong and produces a soaring euphoria just minutes after inhaling—ideal for experienced smokers looking for an uplifting, energizing smoke.

Physical Characteristics of Zowahh

Zowahh seeds are unfortunately no longer available from Karma Genetics' website. According to growers, Zowahh boasts good germination rates and produces medium–tall plants with lanky stems/branches and dense, broad, dark green leaves. Once in bloom, Zowahh plants seem to prop themselves up nicely, exhibiting a moderate stretch and developing a thick canopy of pert leaves. The strain's central stem and branches also seem to thicken up nicely during the late veg/early flowering phase.

As they mature, Zowahh's fan leaves take on beautiful fall colors. Depending on the climate, Zowahh flowers may also develop stunning dark purple, almost gray-black hues. Combined with their thick structure, rusty pistils, and heavy dusting of sugary trichomes, Zowahh buds boast a ton of bag appeal.

Properties and Effects of Zowahh

Zowahhh is predominantly rich in THC and contains little to no secondary cannabinoids. Its frosty flowers also contain a unique blend of terpenes that give the strain a pungent sour candy aroma. A trained nose or palate may also pick up on subtle anise, pine, and floral undertones.

While the exact cannabinoid and terpene concentration of Zowahh isn't known, the strain is said to produce very strong effects that blend an intense cerebral euphoria with a light body stone. Experienced smokers with a tolerance might find the effects of Zowahh to be uplifting and energetic—ideal for daytime use or enjoying with friends. Novice smokers, however, might want to reserve this strain for nighttime use or weekends, as its strong cerebral rush might leave them feeling intoxicated and distracted.

Cultivation and Production of Zowahh

Zowahh was originally available as a regular seed directly from Karma Genetics. It is rumored to be an intermediate-level strain (like many other strains by Karma Genetics) that can grow well indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouses, as well as in soil and soilless setups.

Zowahh plants are typically moderately tall. During their vegetative period, they develop dark green leaves and lanky stems/branches that are easy to train and manipulate. According to reports from growers, Zowahh responds well to training and trimming during its vegetative phase, and likes regular feeding with standard-strength fertilizers.

Once in bloom, Zowahh plants can stretch notably and develop a luscious, thick canopy. Some recommend growing the strain under a screen; while not strictly necessary, Zowahh can produce great yields in a ScrOG or similar setups. Like other hybrids, Zowahh responds well to light fertilization during her bloom cycle, as well as cooler temperatures and low RH (particularly during the final weeks of flowering). On average, Zowahh takes around 70 days to mature, and its yields reportedly vary from 450–700g/m² indoors, depending on how it is grown.
