In House Genetics' Sugar Cane Description

Sugar Cane is a hybrid cannabis strain bred in Seattle. Known for producing extremely frosty flowers with intense effects and super sweet aromas, it's becoming increasingly sought after among smokers, medical patients, and growers. Keep reading to learn all there is to know about the Sugar Cane cannabis strain.

Strain History of Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane is a hybrid cannabis strain bred by In House Genetics. Now a highly respected name in cannabis, In House Genetics is run by two breeders with 20 years of experience growing weed. Born, raised, and still based in Seattle, In House Genetics started their career like most breeders do—by popping seeds and hunting down different phenos. The brand's success really took off, however, with the creation of their Platinum line. Stemming from a cross of UW Hashplant (a strain In House Genetics received from the University of Washington) and Permafrost (Trainwreck x White Widow), Platinum is undoubtedly In House Genetics' most prized strain.

To this day, In House Genetics continues to use the Platinum line to create new and exciting hybrids, including Sugar Cane. Other strains created using In House Genetics' Platinum include:

• GASper

• 33rd Degree

• Platinum Kush Breath

• Glazed Pastries

• Sugar Cane

• Deluxe Sugar Cane

Genetic Lineage of Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane is a direct descendant of Platinum and Slurricane, two of In House Genetics' best-performing strains. Below we'll take a look at the traits of both Platinum and Slurricane and their impact on Sugar Cane.

Platinum, as mentioned earlier, is the result of crossing UW Hashplant and Permafrost. The result of a long, meticulous pheno hunt, Platinum is much more than just a strain, and has gone on to birth a whole new line of genetics. In interviews, In House Genetics has admitted that the creation of Platinum really took their breeding game to another level, as the plant's exceptional trichome production, delicious terps, and potency elevate any strain they cross it with. If you're lucky enough to grow Sugar Cane or buy its flowers, the incredible frosty appearance of its buds and sugar leaves really is owed to its Platinum parent.

Slurricane, Sugar Cane's second parent, is a cross of a Dosidos and Purple Punch. Like Platinum, Slurricane is beloved for its extremely frosty appearance and fruity, OG-like aroma. Thanks to its Purple Punch parent, Slurricane can take on beautiful fall colors and purple hues toward the end of its flowering phase. Besides being loved by smokers and medical patients, Slurricane is also extremely popular among hash and extract producers thanks to its superb trichome production (which produces exceptionally high yields of cannabis concentrate).

Physical Characteristics of Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane is a hybrid strain with both indica and sativa genetics. It is available as a feminized seed from In House Genetics' official vendors and continues to win over cannabis growers with its exceptional grow traits. The information regarding the strain's physical appearance gathered below comes from pictures and grow reports sourced directly from growers.

Sugar Cane plants are true to their hybrid genetics, combining physical traits typically seen in both sativa and indica lines. They grow to average heights, with tightly spaced nodes and broad, bright green leaves, typically with 5–7 fingers. The plants seem to produce strong central stems and multiple side branches. Once flipped to bloom, Sugar Cane plants stretch immensely and develop long branches and extra-large leaves. As they mature, Sugar Cane plants sometimes develop purple stems and small, tight purple flowers.

Come harvest time, Sugar Cane plants are typically heavy with dense buds coated in a thick, snow-like layer of trichomes contrasted with bright orange pistils. Sugar Cane's flowers tend to blend bright green and purple hues, the latter of which intensify in cooler conditions.

Properties and Effects of Sugar Cane

According to user and dispensary reports, Sugar Cane typically contains between 20–30% THC, as well as a rich mix of sweet terpenes. As its name suggests, Sugar Cane's aromas and flavors are very sweet, reminiscent of caramelized sugar or syrup, combined with light notes of grapes and floral hints. Its smoke is very dense, though still smooth and full-bodied.

Thanks to its high concentration of terpenes and THC, Sugar Cane produces a strong high. Most users report feeling an instant hit of energetic euphoria and optimism, accompanied by light physical relaxation—though not enough to cause couch-lock or drowsiness. Users with a high tolerance report enjoying Sugar Cane during the day, as its energetic cerebral high can help them focus, especially on repetitive or mundane tasks. Users with a lighter tolerance for THC and cannabis in general, however, should proceed with caution when using Sugar Cane, as its intense effects can be overwhelming.

Uses of Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane is fairly popular among recreational users, especially those with a high tolerance and a preference for balanced, uplifting hybrids. Some ways in which recreational users report using Sugar Cane include:

• Before cleaning the house or gardening

• While playing video games

• In social settings or parties

• While walking out in nature or hiking

• Before exercise

• While working or studying

• While working on creative projects

While the strain isn't as popular as others, MMJ patients with a variety of different conditions report using this strain, including those experiencing:

• Depression

• Stress

• Mood disorders

• Anxiety

Note that multiple users report Sugar Cane as having a very intense, energetic high. For some people, especially those with a low tolerance for cannabis, these effects may prove overwhelming and unpleasant. In fact, Sugar Cane can cause the following side effects in some people:

• Anxiety

• Paranoia

• Dizziness

• Tachycardia

• Dry mouth/eyes

Cultivation and Production of Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane is available in feminized seed form from In House Genetics’ registered vendors.

According to growers, Sugar Cane by In House Genetics has good germination rates and produces plants that are stable and demonstrate good vigor. Sugar Cane plants vegetate quickly and stay nice and compact, with dense foliage. Growers recommend using screens or nets to support Sugar Cane plants, as well as using lollipopping or similar techniques to focus the strain's growth toward the top of its canopy.

Sugar Cane seems to grow well in a variety of setups, including in soil and hydro, as well as indoors and outdoors. Note, however, that the strain's intense stretch can prove problematic in small tents or rooms. According to In House Genetics, Sugar Cane needs 60–75 days to flower.

Sugar Cane is a high-potency cannabis hybrid bred by In House Genetics in Seattle, Washington. Combining genetics from Platinum and Slurricane, Sugar Cane is known for its frosty flowers, as well as its sweet aroma and intense, energetic high.

2 seeds germinated 100% germination.

She grew fast. I cloned them both and did another run. 2 different phenos one smelled like spoiled milk and the other kinda when you crack open a beer.

Lots of tricks very sticky good for pressing and extractions.

The weed looked covered in trichomes.

The effects are ordinary nothing to write home about.

Looks 10 full of trichs.

Smell 7 didnt like the smell except the beer one.

Effects 7 pretty ordinary.

The good thing is the 49 days it takes to harvest and its above average yeilds.
