Additional Information

emeraldo says

Germinated end of April 2017 at 47N, harvested September 14/15. Requires some experience. Had one incident with clawing due to excessive N in the soil mix which was resolved by flushing out the soil. Beginning late July, plants were brought indoors at night into light-tight room, which sped up the flowering and ripening process (otherwise harvest would probably have been later).

Aroma: earthy with a hint of licorice and pine. Effect: quite strong with clear head and smooth body high. Medicinal.

Great for evening enjoyment. (30.08.2018, 10:37)

Have grown ICE (female seeds) two seasons in a row (so yes would and did grow again) but in different climates. In Alpine Europe, this strain does well outdoors if the weather is generally warm and dry. I accelerated flowering by brining the plants indoors into a light tight darkroom at night for 12 or more hours, and harvested in mid-September 2017.

If left to flower outdoors at night (no dark room), early to mid-October would be a likely harvest date.

This year 2018 I grew ICE in California's Central Valley and harvested on October 11. I grew two plants on a western-facing balcony, a semi-guerilla setup. I topped one and let the other grow untrained. The topped one produced more bud than the untopped. The untopped got some shade from the intense sun during the hottest part of the day, and ripened more slowly with mostly clear/milky trichomes. The topped plant stood in the hot sun a bit longer and produced stickier buds with more amber trichomes, maybe 30% amber.

Bud structure and branching is ideal for airflow and is mold- and fungus-resistant. I had plants in the same grow that suffered from bud worm, which is common to the locality (had it last year too) but only on the tallest plants at the top of the main cola. These ICE plants were not the tallest in the grow and didn't catch the eye of the white butterfly.

Effect is very nice -- mostly body with a clear head, relaxing. This is true for both plants grown 2018. The clear/milky trichomes are more uplifting, the 30% amber is sedative. (15.10.2018, 07:15)
