Grandiflora Genetics' Grandi Guava Description

Grandi Guava is a sweet hybrid cannabis strain with fruity, creamy, and gassy aromas. Bred by high-profile US breeders, this strain is fairly popular, attracting smokers with its bold flavor profile and potent yet balanced effects. Keep reading to learn all there is to know about the Grandi Guava cannabis strain, including its origins, history, genetics, growth traits, and much more.

History of the Grandi Guava Cannabis Strain

Grandi Guava is a hybrid cannabis strain bred by Grandiflora Genetics. Born and bred in Oakland, Grandiflora is headed by Mark McCafferty. The brand launched in 2008 and has since been responsible for the development of a long list of strains, including Oakland Purple, High Tech, and Melonatta. Mark's unique way of dropping strains via Instagram quickly caught the eye of Berner at Cookies, which eventually led to a Cookies-Grandiflora collaboration. Through their work together, Grandiflora and Cookies created an exciting catalog of new strains, including:

• Chemical X

• E85

• Hectane

• Minnit Made

• Red Velvet

• Project 41510

• Pineapple Piss

• Ya Hemi

Among the new strains launched by Cookies and Grandiflora is a collection of fruity varietals which includes Grandi Guava, Grandi Melon, and Grandi Candi.

Genetic Lineage of Grandi Guava

Grandi Guava stems from a cross of Gelato and Guava strains.

Gelato, Grandi Guava's first parent, is a beloved hybrid bred by Mario Guzman at Sherbinskis. Known for its aroma of sugary fruit with delicate creamy undertones, Gelato is a beloved strain that's birthed countless other hybrids since its creation in 2014. Gelato flowers are known for their tight structure and myriad colors, blending together vibrant lime green tones with deep purple, bright orange, and yellow, finished with a shiny coat of trichomes. Besides its bag appeal and superior aroma, Gelato is also known and loved for its deeply relaxing stone.

Grandi Guava's second parent, Guava, is a Gelato phenotype with a particularly fruity aroma. As its name suggests, Guava smells of ripe, musky tropical fruit with lingering notes of gas. Like Gelato and other strains from the Gelato line, Guava can pack plenty of THC and delivers a mix of both physical and mental effects. Users with a solid tolerance often enjoy toking on Guava during the day, finding that the strain induces a clear-headed, functional high coupled with some subtle physical effects that seem to grow as the strain's high progresses. Users with a lighter tolerance, however, usually prefer lighting up Guava in the evenings or on weekends when they can lean into the physical aspects of its stone without feeling guilty.

Physical Characteristics of Grandi Guava

Based on pictures from growers, Grandi Guava produces healthy plants with thin, bright green foliage, lanky branches, and moderately spaced nodes. Once in bloom, Grandia Guava plants seem to stretch notably and produce dense flowers that preserve many of the bright colors found in Gelato and Guava. Mature Grandi Guava flowers typically boast a rock-hard structure, bright green calyxes with deep purple highlights, yellow and orange pistils, as well as a frosty dusting of trichomes.

Properties and Effects of Grandi Guava

Grandi Guava is a high-THC cannabis strain known for producing strong effects that are both mental and physical. On average, Grandi Guava produces between 20–25% THC, depending on how the strain is grown. According to dispensary reports, Grandi Guava flowers and extracts are particularly rich in caryophyllene, though they may also contain myrcene, limonene, humulene, linalool, and other terpenes. Combined, these terpenes produce a rich aroma that users often describe as tropical, fruity, and gassy.

Well-cured Grandi Guava flowers boast upfront aromas of berries and ripe, musky tropical fruits like guava, melon, and mango. Upon closer inspection, you may also pick up on subtler creamy undertones reminiscent of Gelato, as well as sugary overtones. Finally, behind the sweet notes of fruit, candy, and cream, a trained nose will pick up on the unmistakable bite of tangy, pungent diesel, as well as some funky notes of skunk and cheese. Light her up and Grandi Guava produces thick smoke or vapor dominated by upfront notes of fresh berries combined with tangy notes of diesel that become more prominent on the exhale.

As is to be expected of a high-caliber modern hybrid, Grandi Guava delivers very potent effects. Almost immediately after inhaling, users report feeling a notable cerebral rush that creates a sense of alertness and elevates the mood. Soon after, you may notice a subtle physical relaxation accompanying the calm, clear-headed buzz. Over time or in higher doses, Grandi Guava's effects tend to get more physical and relaxing. Hence, if you have a low tolerance or are susceptible to the physical stone of some cannabis strains, you may prefer to use this strain in settings where you don't need to remain overly productive.

Uses of Grandi Guava

Given its balance of mental and physical effects, its rich terpenes, and potent THC levels, Grandi Guava pairs well with:

• Working from home

• Creative tasks

• Doing chores or housework

• Taking walks or relaxing out in nature

• Listening to music

• Reading

• Watching movies or TV

• Social situations

According to user reports, Grandi Guava is generally a well-tolerated strain. However, like all high-potency cannabis varieties, it may cause unpleasant side effects in some people, including:

• Headaches

• Dry mouth and eyes

• Paranoia/anxiety

Cultivation and Production of Grandi Guava

Cookies tends to keep a tight lock on most of its strains. However, at the time of writing this strain entry, original Grandi Guava clones are being sold through King Kong Clones in the USA. Other breeders and nurseries, including Purple City Genetics and Highline Nursery, also sell Grandi Guava in seed and clone form (respectively), though we do not know how these varieties compare to the original strain from Grandiflora.

Based on grow reports, Grandi Guava plants appear lanky yet bushy, producing bright green, elongated leaves during their veg phase. Thanks to their vigor, these plants respond well to a variety of training techniques and can be manipulated to accommodate smaller gardens or tents. Once in bloom, however, Grandi Guava plants stretch notably and grow heavy with tightly stacked flowers. When exposed to cooler temperatures, plants develop beautiful dark hues. Ripe Grandi Guava flowers boast excellent structure with tight stacks of calyxes and a luscious, sticky coating of resinous trichomes. Unfortunately, the yields and flowering times of this strain aren't known.

Grandi Guava — A Fruity, Creamy Hybrid With Well-Balanced Effects

Grandi Guava is a high-potency cannabis variety bred by Grandiflora and Cookies. Combining genetics from Gelato and Guava (a unique Gelato phenotype), Grandi Guava boasts fruity, musky aromas with notes of cream, fuel, as well as hints of skunk and cheese. The effects of this strain are well-balanced, and based on your tolerance, you may enjoy this strain during the day and/or in the evening.
